About the Artist

A native of Marshfield, Massachusetts, Ann Palica is an award-winning illustrator, painter, graphic designer, stained glass artist, photographer, and accomplished project manager. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in fine art at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, she has concentrated her career to specialize her diversity in a large array of mediums spanning over two decades in her commission -based studio all while teaming with talented developers and reshaping the skyline in our city. Ann has spent the past 20 years in real estate development/design and in 2023 took the leap to leave corporate America and focus solely as a full- time artist instead of doing the select commission pieces she has been focusing on to date which supplemented her city career. Miss Palica is noted as constantly reinventing her style and creating a unique edge by making her signature look unable to be labeled as her palette is simply too broad. Her most recent two acrylic series of paintings on canvas, the “Oceannica “series and South Shore landscape paintings were all taken into the award- winning Setting the Space galleries where Ann is the new, featured artist of their latest boutique gallery in Plymouth, MA.
Miss Palica’s background portfolio of work is extensive – for several years she focused exclusively in stained glass, full time in a studio in Stowe, Vermont doing commission work all over the country then moved her studio back to Mass. Her largest stained glass window design commissioned to date (16 x20 foot ceiling) based in Stowe, Vermont, was featured on both HGTV and the Travel Channel’s “America’s Top Ski Homes” and can be seen soaring 30 feet over a marble floor. The home has since been named The Castle Above Clouds and still reigns as the largest private residence in the State of Vermont. Ann has since done hundreds of commissions in glass designs and installations art and murals for clients all over the United States which range from chapel windows to custom Tiffany inspired lampshades. However, in her hometown of Marshfield, Ann is perhaps most known for her animated, whimsical illustrations which graced the former Brant Rock breakfast diner “Arthur and Pats” prior to embarking to art school and were noted by Phantom Gourmet for their added charm to the late diner.
Ann’s last international commission piece was a labor intensive, Italian-styled venetian plaster/ faux finish and oversaw all interior decorating for a 5 -bedroom villa in St. Barthelemy in the French West Indies. She also served over the span of her career for nearly two decades as the right hand and lead designer/ project manager to two leading real estate development companies, where she was not only an executive team member of each but also provided artistic skills, including but not limited to, real estate flips throughout Boston, Nantucket and the Cape, marketing materials, advertisements featured in magazines such as New York Times, Branding and Event Design and magazine development. She has enjoyed working with developers and talented teams to work in collaboration in the artistic process of reshaping our City of Boston. Miss Palica’s most recent residential property she was overseeing sold to a former Patriots player in Newton, Ma and following her attention and talent was focused alongside her last team on the revitalization of upscale housing in Revere Beach. Ann restored a vintage 1952 Silverstreak Airstream and did all the interior decorating which was a featured cover story in the magazine South Shore Living and used for various photo shoots in the film industry. She also collaborated with another well -known artist and created a custom movie theater in Nantucket where she did 24 karat gold leafing pillars, faux-bois and marble accents; this transformation was featured in the popular magazine N-Times for unique home theater designs. Ann has had her paintings featured in multiple galleries and museums from the Frick Museum, Herter Gallery and as far as Germany. She also created extensive artwork for the popular cult tour band Phish for many years, worked for Disney Studios in their animation department and played Pocahontas and has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild for over 20 years doing theater, commercials, print and occasional film as a side hobby – even played Sugar Ray Leonard’s girlfriend in the movie “The Fighter”; her boyfriend Luke likes to joke that her resume is as eclectic as the life of Forest Gump.
Ann enjoys non-profit work and acknowledges the importance of giving back to her community. She was one of the co-founders of the Plymouth Independent Film Festival and served on their board as the special events director from 2006-2008 on their mission to bring art, culture and film to the south shore community. Ann also has worked closely with Habitat for Humanity, Make a Wish and other non-profits.
On a personal note, though native of New England, Ann is not particularly fond of the long winters or snow and spends a great deal of her winter plotting plans of escape… and of course creating new masterpieces. She loves cats, boating, swimming, traveling, cooking and enjoys driving around with her boyfriend Luke in their 3 vintage cars and spending time with their 5 children. Ann’s mission in life is to “paint the world a better place”. Her favorite color is purple. Her favorite Beatle is George.
